Hello everyone!
In this post we are going to learn how to use Articles in English.
Indefinite Articles
The indefinite articles A and AN are used for singular countable nouns (not specific). Both A and AN have the same meaning. The difference depends on the sound at the beginning of the next word.
When the next word starts with a consonant sound, use A:
a book
a car
a dog
When the next word starts with a vowel sound, use AN:
an apple
an egg
an umbrella
* Be careful! The SOUND of the letter is important:
a house BUT an hour (the H at the beginning of hour is silent).
an uncle BUT a university (the U at the beginning of university sounds like YOU).
You can also use articles before adjectives:
a cold day
a very crazy person
an easy lesson
an interesting class

The definite article THE is used for singular and plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns (specific).
